What’s That You’re Eating?

Take a look at yourself naked in the mirror. What you’re seeing is a collection of between 50 and 90 trillion human cells. If these were laid out end to end, they would circle the globe four and a half times. Each one is a tiny miraculous factory dedicated to keeping you alive and healthy.

And every single one was made by food, water, and light. Pharmaceutical drugs or man-made chemicals played no part whatsoever in the creation of your body.

You are, essentially, one of the many different fruits of the Earth we call life, made from its constituent elements, and thus you are the stuff of stars.

At the 2008 Feeding the World Conference, social scientist and ecologist Prof. Janice Higgins stated that approximately one billion people do not have enough to eat; an additional billion are unable to buy an adequate and healthy diet; and another billion are obese. And over a third of the world’s people suffer moderate to severe health because of micronutrient deficiencies.

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, wrote: “Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.”

However, allopathic medicine attributes as little importance to this as it does to the primary directive of its own Hippocratic Oath - “First, do no harm.”

Why?

Because, of the 125 medical schools in the US, only 30 require that their students learn anything at all about nutrition. The average time spent on nutrition education for US doctors during four years of training is two and a half hours.

Consequently, you can be absolutely certain that, with very few honourable exceptions, the vast majority of doctors who hold forth on the subject don’t know what they’re talking about.

Let’s examine the role of food - and its changing nature - in our lives.

All food - plant and animal - starts with...

Soil


When a plant grows, it takes up minerals from the soil. When we eat that plant, those minerals are absorbed by our bodies and used for vital functions. But if the soil is severely depleted of minerals, the plant will naturally have far less - and no matter how many of those plants we eat, our health will suffer.

Two examples: magnesium and iron levels in some soils have plummeted by more than 80% due to commercial farming techniques and the use of chemical rather than organic fertilisers.

As early as 1936, this was extensively researched by an Alabama physician and specialist in stomach diseases and nutritional disorders named Dr. Charles Northen. When he attempted to have his research published, he was ridiculed by the medical and agricultural establishment, and no journal would touch his work. Determined that this vital information should reach the public, he gave an interview to a journalist named Rex Beach which was published in Cosmopolitan magazine.

This interview was deemed so important by Senator Duncan Fletcher that he requested it be entered into the US Congressional Record two weeks before he died of a heart attack (the mineral selenium is vital for heart health). It’s now known as “Senate Document 264.”

The fact that this information first appeared in a magazine rather than a professional journal is today used to try to discredit Dr. Northen by the very people who refused to publish it initially.

In a 1997 British Food Journal article entitled "Historical changes in the mineral content of fruits and vegetables,” independent British researcher Anne-Marie Mayer compared the mineral contents of 20 vegetables and 20 fruits, harvested and analyzed in the 1930s and the 1980s, and found statistically significant drops in the vegetables’ amounts of calcium, magnesium, potassium, and copper. She found the fruits were depleted in magnesium, iron, copper, and potassium. The biggest change was copper content in fruit, which had fallen to less than 20 percent of what it had been in the 1930s. She wrote:

"Agriculture which relies on NPK fertilizers and pesticides, that adds little organic matter to the soil and that alternates between soil compaction and ploughing, could produce food depleted in minerals. These practices affect the structure, chemistry, and ecology of the soil in ways that could affect the availability of minerals to plants and hence the mineral content of crops. Considering the magnitude of the reductions this matter deserves urgent attention."

And the 1992 Earth Summit Soil Mineral Depletion Report stated that soil mineral depletion in North America stood at 85% - the highest in the world - with other developed nations not far behind.

Take a look at the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) nutritional values for some fruits and vegetables today compared to 1975.

Apples: Vitamin A is down 41%.
Broccoli: Calcium and vitamin A are down 50%.
Cauliflower: Vitamin C is down 45%; vitamin B1 is down 48%; and vitamin B2 is down 47%.
Collard Greens: Vitamin A is down 45%; potassium is down 60%; and magnesium is down 85%.
Sweet Peppers: Vitamin C is down 31%.
Watercress: Iron is down 88%.

Soil needs to have 54 different minerals present for nutritious and healthy food to grow. Intensive industrial farming uses only three.

Dr. Charles Northen states: “In the absence of minerals, vitamins have no function. Lacking vitamins, the system can make use of the minerals, but lacking minerals, vitamins are useless.”

High-altitude aerosol spraying of aluminium and barium is also being used to destroy soil chemistry balance. The goal? To make the production of natural non-GMO food impossible and to destroy the herbs and plants upon which natural medicine depends. I’ll show you evidence of this on another page.

The lesson here is: depleted soil mineralisation equals depleted food equals depleted immune system.

Seeds


Seeds can be summed up in one word - Monsanto. Essentially, Monsanto evolved out of a giant pharmaceutical and chemical corporation. They developed Agent Orange and Dioxin. But there are other corporations involved in the creation of genetically-modified seeds. Back in 2007, Monsanto already owned almost a quarter of the global GM seed market. Between them, the top 10 GM corporations owned 67% of the market. And 80% of soy grown on the planet is now genetically engineered.

GM companies’ promises that it was the answer to world hunger and would be more productive and economical turned out to be bare-faced lies. GM crop yields are typically lower and they are four to six times as expensive as traditional natural seeds. When they buy Monsanto seeds, farmers must agree not to save the seeds. GM seeds can also be designed to “commit suicide” by producing sterile seeds when the plants mature, thus forcing farmers to buy new GM seeds every year.

And the so-called weed and pest resistant plants produced by these seeds actually need up to 10 times more spraying than the conventional ones. Note that when you buy Monsanto seeds, you’re required to sign an agreement to buy your weedkillers and pesticides only from Monsanto.

Monsanto’s so-called human-safe and biodegradable Roundup weedkiller has turned out to be highly implicated in cancer and neurological damage, and so minimally biodegradable that the French Government forced them to remove this claim from their advertising and packaging. Roundup also inhibits DNA synthesis. Today, they’re selling this potent poison direct to the public for use on lawns and vegetable gardens.

And something has happened that Monsanto was adamant could never happen - GM plants with pesticide-producing genes have now resulted in the development of super-insects.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, this pesticide has now been found in pregnant and non-pregnant women - and in the umbilical cord blood of new-born babies.

These days, feeding the world is never mentioned. Instead, the new so-called benefits touted are “sustainability” and “climate change resistance.” Right now, they hold patents for aluminium-proof seeds (so you don’t need to worry about aerial spraying to poison the soil - Monsanto will ride to the rescue). And you can bet they have another repertoire of Frankenstein seeds waiting in the wings that they’ll claim will grow healthily in mineral-deficient soils. Yep, Jack’s magic beanstalk seeds have nothing on Monsanto’s.

Monsanto’s GM cotton has turned out to be a national disaster for India, with lower yields and quality and higher prices and operating costs, resulting in a quarter of a million Indian cotton farmers committing suicide.

Jack Heinemann is a genetic engineer and professor of genetics and molecular biology who has advised the governments of the US, India, Norway, Australia, and New Zealand on GM food safety issues and was a lead author of the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development global report in 2008. He is also a United Nations Expert in Biosafety and a member of its Technical Experts Group for the Protocol on Biosafety. He states:

"Only two countries in the world have converted the majority of their agroecosystems to GM cropping. According to industry figures, Argentina and Paraguay are true “mega countries” of GM (James, 2007), and according to UN FAO figures (FAOSTAT, 2008), they also have suffered from increased under-nutrition and decreasing food supply since the introduction of GM cropping, reversing pre-GM trends. The majority of the top 20 GM producing countries commit less than 1-5% of their agroecosystems to GM. Even the world’s largest producer, the US, commits no more than about a third of its cropping capacity to GM.”

In 2010, Monsanto applied to the Indian government for permission to openly grow Bt-brinjal (aubergine). Prof. Heinemann advised caution. Just days after India’s Biotech Regulator had granted permission, the ministry slapped an indefinite moratorium on it. But Monsanto went ahead anyway and developed the seeds - by stealing the naturally produced Indian breeds created by traditional breeding methods in order to modify them.

The Indian government has now charged Monsanto with conspiracy and is suing them for “biopiracy.”

Another GM corporation developed seeds which produced plants that, when eaten, conferred resistance to antibiotics, known at Bt-10. Over a period of four years, these seeds were sold to unknowing farmers - “by mistake.”

Indeed.

Researchers at Cornell University announced that monarch butterflies died when they came into contact with pollen from corn engineered to create its own pesticide. And the Polish government has banned Monsanto corn for killing off honeybees. These insects pollinate about 30% of the world’s food plants. After worldwide accusations, it emerged that Monsanto had quietly bought one of the leading bee colony collapse research companies.

The following quote is from “Seeds of Deception,” by Jeffrey Smith.

“On May 23, 2003, President George W. Bush proposed an Initiative to End Hunger in Africa using genetically modified (GM) foods. He also blamed Europe‘s ‘unfounded, unscientific fears’ of these foods for hindering efforts to end hunger.

“Bush is convinced that GM foods held the key to greater yields, expanded US exports, and a better world. His rhetoric is not new. It has been passed on from president to president, and delivered to the American people through regular news reports and industry advertisement.

“The message is part of a master plan that was crafted by corporations determined to control the world‘s food supply.

“This was made clear at a biotech industry conference in January 1999, where a representative from Arthur Andersen Consulting Group explained how his company had helped Monsanto create that plan.

“First, they asked Monsanto what their ideal future looked like in 15 to 20 years. Monsanto executives described a world with 100% of all commercial seeds genetically modified and patented. Andersen Consulting then worked backward from that goal, and developed the strategy and tactics to achieve it. They presented Monsanto with the steps and procedures needed to obtain a place of industry dominance in a world in which natural seeds were virtually extinct.

“Integral to the plan was Monsanto‘s influence in government, whose role is to promote the technology worldwide and to help get the foods into the marketplace quickly, before resistance can get in the way. A biotech consultant said, The hope of the industry is that over time, the market is so flooded that there‘s nothing you can do about it. You just sort of surrender.‘

And, finally, world-leading GM scientist and nutrition expert Dr. Arpad Pusztai was
sacked and vilified after he gave an interview to a British TV show revealing that rats fed GM potatoes developed immune system suppression, their growth was stunted, they had potentially pre-cancerous cell growth and partial atrophy of the liver, and suffered inhibited development of their brains, livers, and testicles.

There is disturbing evidence that his sacking was instituted after Monsanto contacted President Bill Clinton, who immediately phoned Tony Blair.

His work was castigated by the Royal Society among others, but was later vindicated by scientists worldwide and published in The Lancet. He was also invited to address the British parliament.

Monsanto’s goal is the total control of food - globally.

And finally on seeds, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a secure facility on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen in the Arctic Circle. It is mankind’s “insurance policy” against global or regional crises. It was built by the Norwegian government and managed by it together with the Global Crop Diversity Trust and the Nordic Genetic Research Centre. There are also a number of other such seed banks worldwide.

Funding for the Svalbard Vault is provided by Monsanto, Syngenta, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and various national governments. Note that the Gates Foundation is a large shareholder in Monsanto.

Meat


So far, GM meat hasn’t made it to your dinner plate - yet. Not out of any ethical considerations, but simply because it’s a lot more difficult to bioengineer animals than it is plants. Nevertheless, since 2009, the FDA has had an approval framework in place, with GM salmon already in the pipeline. An application for GM pig meat approval was scrapped because research showed that no one would buy it.

However, you’re not out of the woods. GM animal feed - including pet food - IS legal and extensively used in both the US and Europe (because of the way bulk feeds are traded and supplied) despite scientific evidence that it causes significant organ disruption in animals. And bioengineered DNA fragments have been found in cows’ milk as well as in organ and muscle meat, despite EFSA assurances that this could never happen.

In Prof. Jack Heinemann’s 2009 Report to the New Zealand government (downloadable PDF version here), he wrote:

“The cumulative strength of the positive detections...leaves me no reasonable uncertainty that GM plant material can transfer to animals exposed to GM feed in their diets or environment, and that there can be a residual difference in animals or animal products as a result of exposure to GM feed.”

Animal feed additives like vitamins, amino acids, and enzymes, as well as veterinary medicines and vaccines, are also produced with the help of genetically modified microorganisms.

For human consumption, genetically modified additives are often used in sausage and ham. These include ascorbic acid, glutamate, proteases, dextrine or maltodextrine, soy protein, and soy lecithin or soy mono- and diglycerides, as antioxidants, flavour enhancers, tenderisers, fillers, stabilisers, and emulsifiers.

And 22 leading scientists have declared that test results that linked GM feeds to immunosuppression are all correct.

Consider this: if more than 51% of the food on your dinner plate is cooked, your immune system reacts as if your stomach has been invaded by pathogens (this is why raw food is the healthiest diet of all).

Other Nasties in Your Food


If Big Food could get away with selling you cooking fats recovered from human sewage, sauce made from human hair, and baby-food and pet-food laced with lethal poisons, they wouldn’t think twice about it.

Oh, wait - it’s already been done. And it’s still going on.

In China, admittedly. But here in the West, there are more sophisticated ways to make your food lethal. The list is far too long to include here, so here are just a few of them:

Additives & Colours:
Some of these are also known as E-numbers. They can cause cancer, gastrointestinal problems, headache, skin disorders, blood pressure trouble, and increase hyperactivity and the severity of asthma attacks. They can also exacerbate aspirin allergy.

Aluminium:
This metal is an established neurotoxin and highly implicated in Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinsonism. It is capable of crossing the blood/brain barrier and causes the blood to thicken and clot. It is now added to or used in almost everything we eat, drink (including tap water), inject, or absorb. It can also be transferred to food from aluminium cookware and cooking foil. It’s the most persistent of all metal toxins. No lifeform on earth naturally uses it in any biological process.

Link: “Hundreds of publications demonstrate that aluminium is not safe,” says Professor of Inorganic Chemistry Chris Exley. “But the accumulation of aluminium in the body has yet to become the subject of serious investigation and consideration in medicine.”

Antibiotics:
Used in large-scale meat production to produce animal weight gain and combat increased infections due to overcrowding and inhumane conditions. Consequences include the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Antibiotics also attack the human immune system by destroying gut flora. The FDA says it’s “a serious public health threat” but hasn’t banned their use - merely issued an advisory notice.

Arsenic:
Big Food corporations require poultry farmers to use a proprietary food mix, and the farmer typically doesn’t know exactly what’s in it. Scientists have discovered it contains arsenic, Tylenol, Benadryl, and Prozac. So, you poison yourself or get cancer when you eat chicken, but you don’t get too depressed about it.

Link: Arsenic has also been found in baby formulas (one had six times the US federal limit allowed in drinking water), cereal bars, energy shots, and other foods made from organic brown rice. It’s also been found in apple and grape juices.

Aspartame:
Trade name NutraSweet. An excitotoxin that’s an artificial sweetener found in many foods and soft drinks. Can cause brain tumors, insanity, blindness, deafness, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, Parkinsonism, Alzheimer’s, retardation, lymphoma, birth defects, fibromyalgia, diabetes, - and death.

Canola (rape-seed) oil:
Canola is a modified (not GM, but seed-split) form of rape-seed oil. In 1997, paediatrician Dr. Artemis Simopoulos wrote a cookbook which eventually became the “Omega Diet.” The book touted the benefits of the so-called “Mediterranean diet” and extolled canola oil as being heart health friendly. New research indicates it may actually contribute to heart disease. It also contains 2% erucic acid - half the toxic level.

Heavy metals:
Include aluminium, antimony, arsenic, barium, bromine, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, lithium, mercury, nickel, rubidium, silicon, strontium, sulphur, titanium, and uranium. They can also be found in packaging and can leach into food. Some are actually very beneficial in very small trace element amounts. Because they accumulate in the body, larger amounts in food can eventually lead to systemic poisoning. Note that barium drives the essential trace element potassium out of the body.

Homogenised fat:
Homogenisation breaks down dairy fat into tiny globules - a pint of milk contains more than a trillion globules. These absorb harmful toxins, proteins, and hormones and bypass the digestive system and liver to distribute their dangerous payload throughout the body. They also increase harmful body fat and allergies.

But only from pasture-fed herds, never from industrial dairy farms - this is highly likely to contain high levels of pus and pathogens. And here’s a study that shows how raw milk promotes healthy immune systems in Amish children. But note that cows’ milk of any kind is actually detrimental to bone health, contrary to what medicine claims. You should drink almond, coconut, or rice milk instead.

Hormones:
Natural and artificial growth and sex hormones in food can have serious consequences like breast and prostate cancer. DES was banned in the US in 1979. Rather than dump their supplies, the makers sold them to farmers in less developed countries. In Puerto Rico, this led to thousand of infants and children developing fully mature sex glands, pubic hair, and menstruation. It was also marketed as a human fertility enhancer and caused infants to develop horrible cancers of the reproductive organs - and the defects even passed down into grandchildren.

Hydrogenated oils:
Also known as trans fats, interestified oils, and mono-diglycerides. Their sole function is to act as a preservative. Before they arrived, type II diabetes didn’t exist. They’ve also been linked to heart attack, breast and other cancers, systemic inflammation in women, as well as clogged arteries (atherosclerosis). Organic coconut oil is best for cooking, and olive oil should only be used cold.

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG):
MSG is also an excitotoxin - a neurotoxin that plays a major role in degenerative brain diseases. It affects virtually all body systems. It also exacerbates many pre-existing diseases. Present in sauces, package soups, noodles, and many other foods (including frozen) and snacks. It can even be found in baby formulas. Also present in hydrolysed vegetable protein.The label “Natural Flavouring” means food may contain 30-60% MSG. MSGTruth is the website of former food process engineer and food scientist Carol Hoernlein. She is also an expert on aspartame.

Link: In diet or diabetes studies, scientists use obese rats. These are not naturally obese animals, so the boffins have to make them so. They do this by injecting new-borns with MSG.

Pathogens:
These include E. coli, salmonella, botulism, clostridium botulinum, campylobacter, etc. The New York Times reports that “as the supply chain for processed food ingredients - from flavourings to flour to fruits and vegetables - becomes more complex and global, the drive to keep food costs down intensifies. As a result, almost every ingredient, not just red meat and poultry, is now a potential carrier of pathogens, government and industry officials concede.”

Plastic:
According to a survey by the Environmental Working Group, bisphenol A (BPA) is just one of the many chemicals that leach into 92% of all canned foods from can linings. It’s been found in the urine of 95% of all American citizens, including infants. It’s toxic in low doses, exposures at harmful levels are significant, and it causes heart disease, intestinal damage, premature puberty and behavioral changes in children, breast and prostate cancer, DNA damage, impaired fertility, insulin resistance, polycystic ovarian disease, permanent foetal damage, and recurrent miscarriage. There are no safety standards set for it. In Europe and Canada, it’s banned only in baby bottles. The FDA refuses to ban it in the US.


“The nation's system of public health protections from industrial chemicals like BPA are embodied in the Toxic Substances Control Act, a law passed in 1976 that is the only major environmental or public health statute that has never been updated. Under this law, companies are not required to test chemicals for safety before they are sold and are not required to track whether their products end up in people at unsafe levels. As a result of this broken system, BPA is now one of the most widely used industrial chemicals, is found at unsafe levels in people, is allowed in unlimited quantities in a broad range of consumer products, and is entirely without safety standards. Refined oils:
Corn oil, safflower oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, and vegetable oil are “refined” oils. They’re made at high temperatures and pressures using solvents to extract the oil, bleached, then deodorised. This refining process creates dangerous free radicals, removes healthful fatty acids, and destroys all antioxidants. Definitely not a good thing to eat.

Sodium benzoate: Found in sodas, jarred, and canned foods. When combined with Vitamin C and exposed to light and heat, it forms benzene. This suppresses the immune system and can cause leukemia, damage DNA and bone marrow, deplete red blood cells, and destroy mitochondria - the human cell organelle that produces energy. There is some evidence that sodium benzoate alone can cause DNA and cell damage.

Sodium nitrate (nitrite): This is added to virtually all packaged meat products including hot dogs, pepperoni, ham, lunchmeat and other similar products. You'll also find it in bacon, sausages and most breakfast meats. It’s a preservative used to make meats look pink and fresh.

When many people started to turn away from fake food towards organic, Big Food went after them and acquired organic companies wholesale. As a result, organic foods have now been tainted.

In what has become know as The Organic Watergate, the Cornucopia Institute has now found over 100 synthetic or non-organic compounds approved for use in organic farming and food production.

One of these is magnesium stearate, used as a “flow agent” in many health supplements that are in capsule form, like acidophilus. One maker I’m personally aware of that uses this potentially harmful substance in its capsules is Natures Aid, a UK company.

According to Dr. Mercola, research has shown that stearic acid suppresses the killer cells which are vital to proper functioning of the immune system - the T cells - by causing the collapse of cell membrane integrity.

Magnesium stearate also causes your gut to produce a biofilm which acts as a barrier to prevent the absorption of ALL food nutrients.

All I can say is, wow!

Suddenly, our trusted supplements are not so trustworthy after all.

But don’t the FDA and the US Department of Agriculture protect the American public? First, consider that 20% of the FDA’s funding comes directly from the people they’re supposed to police. Then take a look at these two graphics:

Monsanto now supplies 90% of all US GM seeds. Are you surprised? And rest assured they’re not the only giant corporation at this insidious agency colonisation racket. Every regulatory body in the US and Europe tasked with ensuring the safety of food, water, air, medicine, light, and information has now been infiltrated at the top levels by former multinational corporation executives.

Some have even entered politics and become Senators, Congressmen, and members of the European Union’s governing bodies. GM corporations’ policies have now become US government policies, with high-level US politicians, officials, and ambassadors hinting at unpleasant consequences for Europe unless it relaxes its restrictions on GM foods.

The rationale for employing these people is that their industry knowledge and experience is invaluable. But the reality is that they serve their terms in “government service” fostering the interests of their industry and then return to their real masters - the corporations or industries from which they came.

“Nutrients Are Toxins”


A nutrient is defined as “a substance that provides nourishment essential for growth and the maintenance of life.”

Yet the chairman of the UN Codex Alimentarius Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU), Dr. Rolf Grossklaus, has publicly stated that nutrients should be treated as toxins and that nutrition has no role in human health. Since Dr. Grossklaus is a physician, this is presumably because he was taught zero about it in medical school.

Dr. Grossklaus has ensured that Codex Alimentarius uses the science of toxicology to assess nutrients rather than the much more logical science of biochemistry.

Interestingly, he owns the risk assessment company that advises CCNFSDU and Codex on the “benefits” of using toxicology risk assessment. What a coincidence!

Codex Alimentarius has made vitamin and mineral supplements in the therapeutic doses needed for optimum health illegal in Europe. And it’s on its way in the US. It also legally requires all food to be irradiated, treated with growth hormones and sub-clinical antibiotics, and permits the use of seven out of nine Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) that have been banned in almost 200 countries.

It was adopted by the United Nations at the suggestion of Fritz Ter Meer, a former Nazi war criminal who was responsible for setting up Auschwitz. He was also a director of IG Farben, the giant German chemical and pharmaceutical company.


Codex Alimentarius isn’t lunacy - it’s cold-blooded planning. It has nothing whatsoever to do with protecting human health - because it’s ostensibly designed solely to protect trade. But I’ll show you the real reason for it later on another page.
